Blampied (1886-1966) was one of the most eminent artists to come from the Channel Islands. He was born on Jersey and was largely self-taught until his mid-teens. Though best known as a printmaker during the 1910s/1920s etching revival in England and a prolific illustrator throughout his career, he was also an extremely talented watercolorist. During the late 1920s/early 1930s, Blampied dabbled in abstract art to produce what he called his "Color Symphonies."
