EDOUARD MANET
Portrait of Félix Bracquémond.

Pen process etching, 1865. 165x157 mm; 6 5/8x4 3/8 inches, full margins. Second state (of 2). A good, clean impression. A renowned printmaker in his day and one of the technical masters of the 19th-Century French etching revival, Bracquemond helped Manet with many of his prints. He was also the inventor of the pen process of etching, which involved drawing on the copper plate with a plain pen and ink, used only once by Manet in his printed oeuvre. Guérin 42; Harris 42.
