EDVARD MUNCH
Platz in Berlin: Potsdamer Platz.

Drypoint printed in dark brown on heavy creeam wove paper, 1902. 112x161 mm; 4 1/2x6 3/8 inches, full margins. Signed in pencil, lower right, and signed by the printer, Otto Felsing, in pencil, lower left. A brilliant, richly-inked impression of this very scarce, early print, with all the delicate lines distinct, with warm plate tone and velvety, dark burr.

Born in Norway, Munch (1863-1944) lived intermitently in Berlin during the peak of his artistic creativity, from 1893 to 1908. He returned to Berlin only briefly and sporadically following World War I, settling into a mostly reclusive and quiet remainder of his career on his estate outside of Oslo.

We have found only 3 other impressions at auction in the past 30 years. Schiefler 155; Woll 177.
