Edvins Struatmanis, 1933-1992, was a Latvian born artist who studied at the Chicago Art Institute, and had his first solo exhibition at Guildhall Galleries in Chicago in 1963. Known for his action paintings of rough-hewn oil paint, his work is in the collections of the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art.
