Signed in brown ink, lower right margin, and with registration marks and measurements in Gorey's hand. Provenance: Ex-Collection P. Matthew Monahan of Gotham Book Mart to present owner.

Additional Details

The cover illustration is accompanied by a marked celluloid overlay that masks off where the cover would be printed in yellow and one where portions would be printed in a grey-brown (both marked so in Gorey's hand, lower margin). A small tag with watercolor paint swatches and their corresponding Pantone numbers penned beneath. Another fascinating lot that shows the progression of the design process for Gorey.
