EDWARD GOREY. "The Remembered Visit." Group of four sheets comprising six concept drawings and a sheet of various lines of text for that publication (New York: Simon & Schuster, 1965). Sheets include captions, measurements, color and placement indications, all in Gorey's hand.
An excellent look into Gorey's creative process from text to image. The sketches mainly show the protagonist, Drusilla, and the eccentric old gentleman, Mr. Crague, whom she meets on a trip abroad. The 3 large sheets are standard 8 1/2x11-inch white paper and have a central horizontal fold; the text sheet is light blue and measures 8x6 inches, with three horizontal folds.
