This beautiful, atmospheric river scene by Edward M. Bannister is an excellent example of his mature, late period painting. Banner painted several similar river landscapes in 1879, a prolific and busy year for him. This river scene could possibly be in New Hampshire, where Bannister often took painting excursions.
