Here, Eggleston's striking bathing beauty takes in the southern-facing view of the crowded beach and boardwalk. From her vantage point, on the beach in front of the Marlborough-Blenheim hotel, the artist is able to depict the Auditorium Convention Hall, and the Shelburne and Dennis hotels. Eggleston was a commercial artist and illustrator who studied under Harvey Dunn (a student of Howard Pyle's). He is primarily remembered for his pin-up-style calendar backs. Eggleston p. 24.
