Salt Beds, Floor of Death Valley (Dante's View, Death Valley). Silver print, the image measuring 7 1/2x9 1/2 inches (19x24.1 cm.), the mount 13 7/8x15 1/2 inches (35.3x39.4 cm.), with Weston's signature and date, in pencil, on mount recto, and his title "Salt Beds, Floor of Death Valley (from an elevation of 6000 feet)," inscription "Much love dear Lydia, Edward 1944," and notations DV-DV-11G, in pencil, on mount verso. 1938

Weston apparently gifted this print to his paramour Lydia Parker; by descent to the Present Owner.

The alternate title of this photograph, Dante's View, Death Valley, appears in the publication Edward Weston: Photographs from the Center for Creative Photography, where the image is reproduced as cat. no. 1275/1938.
