Silver print, the image measuring 6⅛x10 inches (15.6x25.4 cm.), the sheet 10x12 inches (25.4x30.5 cm.), with Hosoe's signature and negative date in pencil on recto, and his signature, title, negative and print dates, and additional notation in pencil on verso.

Provenance
Acquired from The Friends of Photography, San Francisco in 1987; to the Collection of Neil Robert Berzak

Accompanied by a letter from the Friends of Photography, San Francisco, on this limited edition photograph offered on the occasion of the book publication Eikoh Hosoe (Untitled 42) (Carmel, California: The Friends of Photography, 1986).

This image from his earliest series, Man and Woman, is one of his most widely published photographs. Typical of the series, this enigmatic print suggests the psychological tensions that are at the heart of male-female relationships.
