Additional Details

The illustrations are reproduced from engravings of scenes and characters from the novel. Pietro Giannini began the family bookbinding business in 1856 on the Piazza Pitti in Florence. His son, Giulio Sr. later created a series of bindings that combined durability with artistry, radically transforming their earlier style and establishing great financial success for the firm.
