Born in Philadelphia, and a student at the Philadelphia Academy, Bonsall also studied art in Paris. She is best known for her images of cats, which she contributed as illustrations to a number of books. Although reminiscent of the cats of Steinlen, and even Penfield, Bonsall brings a more painterly approach to her felines, depicting them in a heart-warming and playful manner.
