Elizabeth Catlett's iconic image Sharecropper was first printed in 1952 - that year it won her second prize in graphics at the Atlanta University Annual Exhibition with the title Negro Woman. This early proof is an extremely scarce impression of the linoleum cut in color bearing the title Cosechadora de Algodón. Catlett used this title when her print was illustrated in the journal Artes de México in 1957. There are various subsequent proof impressions printed in black, as well as an edition of 60 in color in 1970. Herzog pp. 104-105.
