George C. Miller, Lithographer.

Lithograph, 1949. 284x225 mm; 11 1/8x8 7/8 inches, full margins. Signed and titled in pencil, lower margin. A very good impression.

Miller (1894-1965), a prominent New York lithographer during the first half of the 20th century, worked with artists including Alexander Archipenko, George Bellows, Yasuo Kuniyoshi, Martin Lewis, Louis Lozowick and others. Miller began his career as a commercial lithographer and subsequently became one of the first printers to work exclusively with artists. He and his circle helped elevate the medium to a widely-accepted fine art form.
