ELLISON HOOVER
McSorley's.

Lithograph on cream wove paper, circa 1930. 225x355 mm; 8 7/8x14 inches, full margins. Edition of 60. Signed, titled and inscribed "Ed/60" in pencil, lower margin. A very good impression of this extremely scarce lithograph.

McSorley's Old Ale House claims to be the oldest tavern in New York, dating back to 1854. It is an East Village institution where the likes of Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Boss Tweed and numerous other famous personalties have visited, as well as John Sloan and the Ashcan School artists.

We have not found another impression of this lithograph at auction in the past 25 years.
