Additional Details

Map shows the United States from the Atlantic Ocean on the east to modern-day mid Kansas and town of Brazoria on the Brazos River in Texas on the west. It is the same map used in "Mitchell's Compendium of the Internal Improvements of the United States". The map was published as a separate pocket map in 1839 (Rumsey 4950). This map is much scarcer than a similar one, covering a geographically smaller area, which Mitchell used in his popular Traveller's Guide Through the United States first issued in 1832. Howes E128. Not in Rumsey.
