Surrender Diane / Sister Boom Boom for Supervisor.
Offset lithograph campaign poster. 603x470 mm; 24¾x18½ inches. 1982.

Sister Boom Boom, the drag persona of Jack Fertig, was a member of the San francisco, gay activist group the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. This is her campaign poster from 1982 when she ran for a seat on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, which she did not win, in spite of winning over 23,000 votes. Depicted riding her broomstick over San Francsco's City Hall, "Diane" refers to Dianne Feinstein, then serving as Mayor of San Francisco.
