According to a 1936 brochure on regulations for exhibitors, the purpose of the exhibition was to "convey a picture of Swiss character and culture, Swiss thinking and creativity, it should collect and represent the forward-looking economic, cultural, social and political forces of our country, the population of Switzerland and foreign. To show guests the efficiency of the Swiss people [...] It should also be an impressive national demonstration by emphasizing the general Swiss and common." This is the English version.
