Additional Details

Rare pedagogic atlas designed and engraved by Joseph Enthoffer, a topographical engineer and engraver for the United States Coast Survey whose tenure at that agency spanned much of the second half of the nineteenth century. The plates, intended for students of topographical drawing, crisply demonstrate the conventional styles, signs, and exacting specifications required to technically produce a serviceable geographic or hydrographic map. together with: a spiral-bound facsimile of the 108-page Manual of Topography, and Text-Book of Topographical Drawing to which the present work is an accompaniment. No copies of either work traced in auction records.
