For no known reason, the early aviation posters all seem to depict the sky in either yellow or orange. Only three years after the first aviation exhibitions, technology in the field had progressed far enough that planes could fly the 500 miles distance between Paris and Pau. Here various airships in the sky are juxtaposed with a soaring eagle, competing in a race between the two cities.
