John Steinbeck, the Nobel Prize-winning author renowned for his classic novels and non-fiction works, shared a close friendship and professional partnership with photographer Robert Capa. In 1947, during the early days of the Cold War, Capa and Steinbeck traveled to the Soviet Union to document everyday life there, blending Capa's powerful visual storytelling with Steinbeck's written narratives. Their creative compatibility formed a strong friendship and the two remained very close until Capa's death in 1954.
