Underground posters were vast in their scope, encompassing all conceivable ways to encourage people to ride underground. Extending far beyond mere destination posters, the advertising produced by the Underground also served as a lifestyle and culture guide, telling people how to live, what to do, where to do it and most importantly, how to get there. Gabain was married to John Copley (see lot 127), and she was a successful lithographer in her own right. This poster is one of four in a series advertising cultural activities available in London.
