William Clemens wrote in The Poster, March, 1896, "No production by Miss Ethel Reed has been praised more highly than [this poster] . . . this is a purely decorative piece of work, but well drawn and very effective. It is lithographed on imported handmade paper, red in color, and printed in olive, green and black. It is truly a work of art" (p. 37).
