An exceptional and rare cross-promotion between American Express and the New York Central Lines, which was aimed at attracting travelers from England. The June 18th, 1927 issue of The Nation & Athenaeum features an ad for this travel service, stating: "An American Express tour will take you across that wonderful Continent - through the busy Middle West and the lovely National Parks, over the Rockies and out to sunny California and British Columbia . . . Every facility is provided by the American Express before you leave England." American Express started out as a freight forwarding company in 1850, later adding on travel services to their business model, beginning with Paris in 1895 and England in 1896.
