Euclid (fl. 300 BCE)
Euclide Megarense Acutissimo Philosopho Solo Introduttore delle Scientie Mathematice.

Venice: Appresso Giovanni Bariletto, 1569.

Third edition of this translation by Niccolò Tartaglia (1500-1557), quarto, woodcut printer's device to title and colophon leaf; woodcut diagrams in the text; bound in parchment over stiff boards; some faint occasional water staining; 8 x 5 3/4 in.

Tartaglia's Italian translation of Euclid's Elements, first published in 1543, was the first version of the text to be published in a vernacular European language. He worked from a Latin version of an uncorrupted Greek original, as opposed to earlier Latin texts, which contained errors rendering some of the work incorrect and impossible to use properly. His translation also contains his own commentary, as he was an accomplished mathematician in his own right.
