Although synonymous with an arena, when Wembley was first constructed in 1923, it was an entire area intended to house the British Empire Exhibition. A stadium was part of the original layout, but like other world fairs, the exhibition grounds contained pavilions, exhibition halls and entertainment grounds. Here, promoting the second season of the Exhibition, Brown focuses on the entertainment and colorful attractions. Painter, textile designer, illustrator and metal worker, Brown also designed over 60 posters for the London Underground, as well as working for the British train companies and the Empire Marketing Board. This image was designed for the LNER Railroad, and variations exist with the LNER imprint and information in the bottom text panel.
