FERNAND LÉGER
Nu au Feuillage.

Original etched copper plate, 1931-32. 400x275 mm; 15 3/4x10 3/4 inches.

This etching was proposed by Christian Zervos for an album to be published by Cahiers d'Art in 1932 with prints by a number of artists, including Chagall, Klee, Masson and Miró. There are proofs of this and other subjects in the Musée Zervos, Vézelay. Another proof, signed and initialed by Léger, in the collection of René Char was purchsed by Quenten Laurens (owner of Galerie Louise Leiris, Paris) at auction Hôtel Drouot, Paris, February 1991 (lot 75, illustrated).

This etching will be included in the forthcoming supplement to the catalogue raisonné of Léger prints in preparation by Lawrence Saphire.
