A study for the artist's egg tempera self portrait. Fidelma Cadmus Kirstein (1906-1991) was Paul Cadmus's sister, and appears in a number of his works (see lot 253). She was also the wife of New York philanthropist and noted New York arts patron Lincoln Kirstein.
