FILIPPO TOMMASO MARINETTI (1876-1944) FUTURISMO. 1932.

Condition A- / B+: restored losses and minor repaired tears at edges and along vertical fold; minor creases in margins and image. Framed.
Futurism and Fascism were always linked, an association that grew closer as the 20th century progressed, perhaps reaching its peak in 1932, when Marinetti helped promote the Exhibition of the Fascist Revolution. Here, in the national red, white and green of the Italian flag, Marinetti extols the wonders of the exhibition and the "bold, futurist soul" of Mussolini. Marinetti designed very few posters, although his typographic collages were well-suited for conveying information in a memorable way. This poster appeared as a folded insert in issue 29 of Futurismo, a short-lived newspaper printed from 1932-33. This rare document is one of the only "free word" typographic posters from the Futurist era. We could find no other copies at auction. Manifesti Italiani p. 112.
