Additional Details

According to notes by Marvin Sackner, Canal Funnel was to be published by Fort Lauderdale, Florida publisher Grant U. Roman, but was rejected by Finlay. The book was subsequently published by Wild Hawthorn Press without the collage elements and this trial maquette is in their wrappers. Although five of these mock-ups were created, only this and one other are known to exist as Finlay destroyed the other 3 copies, perhaps because he did not ultimately approve of the collaged aspects. A color photocopy of the Wild Hawthorne Press edition accompanies the lot.
