FLORENCE LUNDBORG (1871-1949)

THE LARK / FEBRUARY. 1897.

24 1/4x13 inches, 61 1/2x33 cm.
Condition B+: slight offsetting in right image; minor creases at edges; unobtrusive repaired pin holes in corners; colors attenuated.

One of the most prominent female artists working in the poster field at the turn-of-the century, Lundborg's work was prized by her contemporaries. Scotson-Clark writes in The Poster in November 1900 that Lundborg "deserves all praise . . . A complete set of The Lark advertisements is a very desirable possession." And Brietenbach contends that The Lark posters "rank among the best the American poster movement produced" (The American Poster p. 17). The Lark was published from May 1895 to April 1897. Kiehl 122, Margolin p. 132, Keay p. 72, not in DFP.
