Born in Buenos Aires, Campos (1891-1959) was an important Argentine painter and illustrator. A 1942 exhibition of his work at the Modern Art Museum of San Francisco brought him to the attention of Walt Disney. During the 1940s and 1950s he was a consultant and creative artist for the Walt Disney Company. Working with Walt Disney, Campos created the characters for Bambi (1942), the most successful animated film of its time. Many of the landscapes for this film were drawn by Campos from the widlife on Victoria Island in Argentina's Patagonia. He later was a major contributor to the production of Disney's Saludos Amigos (1942) and its sequel The Three Caballeros (1945).
