The flag is inscribed and signed by Cunningham on the bottom with: "Carried with me on Apollo 7, Walt Cunningham." Cunningham carried a very limited number of flags in his Personal Preference Kit (PPK) during the flight. With a Typed Letter Signed by Cunningham certifying the flag and including that "The first flown California flag was presented to then California Governor Ronald Reagan, in November 1968...".
