The flown Beta has been signed by Fred Haise and James Lovell. An inscription by Lovell along the bottom edge reads: "This Beta emblem went to the Moon on the flight of Apollo 13 J. L. (James Lovell)." The launch photograph is signed: "Fred Haise, Apollo 13 LMP" and "James Lovell, CDR." Lovell and Haise were to be the fifth and sixth men to walk on the Moon until the in-flight Service Module explosion scrubbed the landing.
