FLOWN Gemini VII Heat Shield Segment. Encased in a triangular lucite block which is mounted on shelf extending from a 6x9 inch wood base. A plaque mounted on base reads: "Section of Heatshield of Gemini 7, Frank Borman, James A. Lovell, Jr. 4 - 18 December 1965." The segment is 2.5 inches long; the lucite triangle is 3 inches high. The ablative end of the segment is black from reentry heating.

Gemini 7 was the longest flight of the Gemini Program and these two astronauts would later fly to the Moon on Apollo 8.
