Additional Details

Geronimo was a true Apache warrior, feared by the pioneers and settlers he saw as stealing his land. The Apaches were the last tribe to capitulate to the United States Government. This image was taken during Geronimo's negotiations for surrender with General George Crook in the Sierra Madre Mountains. He later escaped but surrendered again a few months later to General Miles resulting in his confinement to a reservation.<
