Additional Details

"Fauna" was originally published by the magazine "European Photography," and purports to present the journals, notes, maps, sketches, and photographs of a recently "discovered" archive of a scientist named Dr. Peter Ameisenhaufen. This book presents these materials as proof that Ameisenhaufen discovered mutated animals (a snake with short legs, or a rabbit with fiercely sharp teeth, for example) in the far edges of the world. A convincing spoof, and a serious comment on photography's role as a purveyor of truth.
