After the great Surrealist returned to the United States in the late 1950's, his interest in prose poems and the visual arts brought him into the circles of Andy Warhol, Pop artists, and the underground filmmakers. The documentary film about the installation, opening night, and breakdown of Poem Posters won an award in 1967 at the Fourth International Avant-Garde Film Festival in Belgium.
