FRANCIS MEADOW SUTCLIFFE (1853-1941) An album containing 64 photographs documenting Whitby, England, including the harbor, its seaside occupants, and the surrounding countryside. Including Sutcliffe's iconic Water Rats, as well as scenes of majestic boats in the harbor, other children at the seaside, fishermen at work and around town, bucolic country scenes, and landscapes. Albumen prints, the images each measuring approximately 6x8 inches (15.2x20.3 cm.), and the reverse, with Sutcliffe's initials and an inventory notation in the negative. Oblong folio, gilt-lettered red cloth, with Sutcliffe's credit, the title Frank M. Sutcliffe's Photographs, and a list of his awarded prizes, on the front cover, disbound. Circa 1887
