First edition, before the bevel of the plate and before the second edition (also before the bevel) which was printed in a "pale, grayish sepia ink," according to Harris. A superb impression of this scarce, early etching with strong contrasts.
After a painting by Velázquez. According to Harris, the first edition of this print, pulled at the Calcografía, Madrid, in 1778-79, appears "to have been small." Delteil 7; Harris 6.
