This poster advertises a store on the elegant avenue de l'Opera that catered to the needs of aristocrats who attended the bals masques and fêtes that were such a prominent part of aristocratic French life at the fin-de-siecle. Here, in the comfort of their own luxurious home, two women are trying on various costumes that have been delivered to them from the store (the empty boxes are clearly visible in the foreground). They are already enjoying themselves even as they prepare for the amusing evening that is in store for them. They are surrounded by their purchases of jewelry, lace, masks, ostrich feathers, fans and other accessories. Although we are unfamiliar with this image, it appears that this is a proof of just the blue stone.
