Kirk, New York, 1938, page 3 (illustrated); a copy of this artist's monograph accompanies the painting. This variant also published in Kleeblatt, Painting a Place in America: Jewish Artists in New York 1900-1945, New York, 1991, page 137.

A related painting, Homecoming, also from the early months of the Great Depression during which Kirk (1889-1963) sojourned in the Anthracite Coal Mining Region of Northeastern Pennsylvania, is in the collection of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, D.C., and is currently on display.
