FRANK NEWBOULD (1887-1950) HOLLAND VIA HARWICH. Circa 1928. 39 5/8x49 5/8 inches. The Dangerfield Printing Co., London. Condition A-: minor repaired tears in margins; creases in margins and image. In 1926 Frank Newbould was one of five artists contracted to work exclusively for the LNER (the others were Tom Purvis, Austin Cooper, Frank Mason and Fred Taylor). The contract lasted for three years. It was most likely during this time that Newbould designed this poster showing some of the architecture in Amsterdam, with a view of the Oude Kerk (Old Church). Newbould did extensive work for the London & North Eastern Railway, but he also worked for the Great Western Railway, The Orient Line (shipping company) and the Belgian Railways.
