Additional Details

Franklin's famous 1773 satirical essay "Rules by Which a Great Empire May Be Reduced to a Small One," translated into Spanish from the 1809 edition of the Works of Benjamin Franklin. Before independence, publishers in the Spanish American colonies were discouraged from publishing anything relating to the American Revolution, and importation of such works was forbidden (see Traducción e Interculturalidad, page 171). We have found no earlier Mexican printings of any of Franklin's works in Ford's bibliography or in OCLC.
