Kysela studied at Prague's School of Decorative Arts and at the Academy of Arts and became a painter, graphic designer, designer and decorator. This poster advertises a costume ball "Golden Era," for the students of the Prague School of Decorative Arts, which was a major event for the artistic circles of Prague, attended by many already established artists as well. These students, ostensibly the second generation of Art Nouveau pupils, were inspired by the Vienna Secession. Kysela, along with Jaroslav Benda and Robert Schlosser, was one of the more highly regarded talents from the institution and his image is a masterpiece of decorative stylization. Kroutvor p. 42, Wiener Plakat 71.
