Kysela studied at the Prague Decorative Arts School and became a professor there in 1917. His work encompassed Czech banknotes, books, stained glass (a window in Prague's St. Vitus Cathedral) and tapestry (he designed a series of eight images on the theme of Czechoslovak National Handicrafts for Czech Pavilion at the Paris 1925 Internationale des Arts Decoratifs et Industrieles Modernes). His posters from this era are distinctly Secessionist in design, ornamentation and color. This previously unrecorded poster advertises a Slovak literary magazine published between 1907 and 1910. rare.
