Gilot (born 1921) is a French critic, artist and bestselling author, among her many other accomplishments. At the age of 21 she met Pablo Picasso, and while he influenced her work as a cubist painter, she developed her own style by forgoing angular figures in favor of organic forms and lines (see lot 317).
