Sydney-based artist Fred Powis was best known for his movie poster designs, and worked in North America, Europe and Australia. While living for a short time in Los Angeles, he created several movie advertisements for Warner Brothers, and he eventually moved back to Australia to be Art Director of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's new Australian office. It is no surprise given his successful career in film posters, that his one Canadian Travel poster (printed in Sydney) has a colorful, cinematic palette and a narrative feel. Rare.
