"Architecural and historical studies were popular themes . . . and were used to attract visitors to cathedrals, abbeys and other historical sites . . . the work of Fred Taylor was particularly good" (Railway p. 23). Taylor designed more than 60 posters between 1908 and the 1940s, making him "the LNER's most prolific artist" (Railway p. 126). His style, often very detailed, is here more representative (in the style of Tom Purvis) using broad, flat areas of color to create implied details.
