Freda Beard, a portrait painter and commercial artist, designed posters for the British Empire Exhibition, the Royal Mail Line, The Southern Railway and London Transport. She also designed a cover for Pall Mall magazine in 1928, and exhibited twice at the Royal Academy. Her signature Art Deco design is a minimalistic and colorful composition, typical also of her work for the London Underground. Commerical Art & Industry, 1927, p. 75.
